In the economic, political, and environmental education at the moment, the idea of private teacher outside the range for everyone except the richest of the rich family. In 5-10 years into the future, however, a reality that will change. Advances in voice recognition and artificial intelligence for 7-8 years has led to the mainstreaming of virtual assistants like Apple series (released October 2011), Google Google Now (June 2012), Microsoft Cortana (April, 2014), and Facebook (August 2015). Progress continues in artificial intelligence, in particular the branch known as the learning, combined with the expansion of storage and computing cloud-based service will extend the capacity of the current virtual assistants and turn it into a digital companion of a lifetime.
Development of a digital companion of a lifetime to lifetime personal teacher just another series of algorithms going. The underlying technology of their algorithm is already being developed. In March 2013, the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency announced a new initiative to "decisively reduce the current barriers to machine learning and fostering an explosion of innovation, productivity and effectiveness." In January 2014, Google paid $ 400 million for the acquisition of London-based DeepMind Technologies, a small startup focused on research of deep learning. Before this acquisition, Google's Director of research, Peter Novig, admits that Google is already working more than five percent of the world's leading minds in machine learning. Google is not the only technology company massive investment in machine learning. At the same time Google has bought DeepMind Technologies, IBM announced it spent $ 1 billion to create a new business unit for machine learning technology that Watson. Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, and other large money various organizations active in the field as well.
In addition to their work on the AI-based personal assistant, Apple and Microsoft have long been active in education. Similarly, Google launched Google for education in November 2010. In 2014, IBM announced Watson for all, is meant to bring the analysis of individual-based AI. Even Facebook has expanded its tentative entrance early in your education with new announcements (September 3, 2015) of the project Education Summit K-12, which is envisioned to integrate various technologies of learning into a single interface and allows students to create a "personal learning plan" articulate their own learning curriculum. This would be a small step for this and other technology companies to change their site AI-lit classroom instruction.
The development of technology is inevitable and undeniable. The question is, how education will
evolve as a result of that?
The Web came up, education has taken several steps since the radical evolution of the Gutenberg printing press. Indeed, there are more schools now than in 1440. However, within these walls we still as a student the student based on the unit's proper credit. We are still, too often, organize our classes into line; and we still, too often, have all students learn at the same speed regardless of prior knowledge or intellectual ability.
With the advent of AI-based personal lifelong teacher, however, some aspects of education would be forced into reform. Master class will no longer be the primary source of knowledge. In the future, when a student needs something explained, students will not have to wait for the class; students will only be told his private teacher, "Siri, I don't understand the chain rule. Please explain it to me. " Siri will request the right file, apply the proper AI algorithm to accommodate there is knowledge and instructional preferences of students, and then explain the chain rule for students in terms of students can understand and internalize. As a result, teachers currently have to evolve the focus and the delivery of their learning method.
Looking outside the classroom, K-12 schools will need to reform how they manage their curriculum and the way in which students progress through their programs. The Facebook Summit projects already targeting aspects of K-12 programs with a Personalized Learning Plan. In addition, the competition quickly will arise from other technology companies and start-ups offering cloud-based archive and downloadable algorithm for the course and the entire learning program customized to each student.
The role of policy makers in Activating Evolution Education
Before sweeping reforms in education can occur, policy makers and the federal State must come to grips with the implications and scope that education will have artificial intelligence — in and out of the classroom. For the moment, however, it seems that policy makers are not even aware of the changes towards them. A search of the U.s. Department of education web site and the sites of the four regional consortia that provide guidelines for making State legislators (i.e. policy, New England Board of higher education, Southern Regional Education Board, Midwestern higher education Compact, and the Western Interstate Commission on higher education) found some mention of artificial intelligence and no policies or recommendations to the legislature for debate, let alone adopt clear cut.Be a very regulated industry, teachers and school administrators are limited in how fast they can modify their daily operations. The inability to adjust to outbid legislated this further heightens the need for educators to work with industry experts and officials of the legislature to set guidelines for classroom and general purpose use for AI as well as funding and collaborative effort to help ensure students and schools with limited financial resources do not leave from process change.
Have the faith of Chicken Little, the sky is not falling entirely.
With change comes opportunity. Just as happened with the advent of online learning, new forms of learning and the operation of the program will appear with the arrival of private teacher for life. Instead of lectures and memorize facts for the test Unit, the classroom teacher can combine resources, new forms of reasoning and collaboration. Instead of forcing students to complete a predetermined sequence of programs regardless of their capabilities, the Institute will learn to support your personal learning plan led to the achievement of defined skills and knowledge. Many new research will appear, for example, examining the duality of conjunction of human learning and machine learning, the use of personal agent-based AI longitudinally to help individuals with their problems often hide from other people-victims of bullying, depression, etc.
Proper form and scope of these efforts remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that today's schools must shake the centuries of bad habits and learn to adapt and evolve quickly. New models need to be developed to teach, defend, matriculating and graduating students. If they don't, the Silicon Valley and tech companies around the world will impose the will of their collective in the form of new programs and innovative learning. This led to one last question, "Siri, how my school can develop
